In this guide
Mostar
Begin at Stari Most and Mostar’s surrounding old town, then walk beside the Neretva and stop for lunch. The bridge was rebuilt after its destruction, and the historic bridge area is a UNESCO World Heritage property.
Travnik
Travnik combines the medieval Stari Grad fortress with the birthplace museum of Nobel Prize-winning writer Ivo Andrić. Add lunch and a walk through town. In wet weather, choose the museum if conditions at the fortress are unsuitable for your group.
Trains and road transport
For Mostar by train, check ŽFBH services in both directions for your travel date, including station transfers. Confirm ticket-buying options; online sales may be unavailable. For Travnik, arrange road transport and the return journey before setting out.
How long to allow
Allow a full day for either Mostar or Travnik, including the journey back to Ilidža. On a short stay, you may prefer Sarajevo and Ilidža; with more days, add one of these cities to your itinerary.
